About the Artist

Sahel Manochehry (b. 1997) is a contemporary abstract artist based in Toronto, Canada. Working in acrylic and mixed media, her art explores emotion, movement, and the unpredictable beauty that arises when intention meets chance.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Sahel channels her experiences and observations into her work. A self-taught artist, she continually experiments with techniques and materials, embracing imperfection as an essential part of creation.

Her paintings reflect life’s rhythms: the highs, the lows, and the quiet moments in between. Layers of paint capture fleeting thoughts, moods, and moments in time, turning each canvas into a visual diary rich with emotion and transformation.

Sahel’s practice is guided by both intuition and deliberate exploration. She draws inspiration from music, poetry, and movement, often playing with contrasts - chaos and calm, bold strokes and delicate marks, opacity and transparency - to create works that feel alive and immersive.

For Sahel, art is both a process and an invitation. Her work encourages viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with their own emotional landscapes. Across her practice, she celebrates the joy of creating, the freedom to explore, and the beauty that emerges from unpredictability.
